DESTASH!!! Update

Wow we are nearing 30 boxes of never used never opened crafting goodness! Some items are vintage Cookbooking,  Top Line Creations and Breezy design, (now that is one company whose designers were very much ahead of their time) and some are just released Graphic 45!  We also have some Marion Smith, Simple Stories and some Prima! All the boxes will have flowers and lace that, if not white, were individually hand colored to match what the box contains!

What's more, we have determined that there will be a second round after the holidays!  Yup there is still a whole lot to destashsing to do!!!

The actual box buying will be via this blog and you will have to look for the pages at the top of the blog!  We are starting to make the videos today and will post them a couple of days before the sale starts so that you can view what we have and note the number or letter of boxe(s) you want.  Then  we will let you know either in a new video and/or online in FB as well as here in a new post, we will publish each page here on the blog!

OK, time to get the videos done!

Catch Up Post

Life has bee hectic and full all at once!  Sometimes that has been awesome and sometimes it's been dog gone awful! But I'm grateful for both! I've completed a lot of projects for my classes and some just for my pleasure. I'll quickly share some of these here with you, before I create my next blog post, which in some ways is a kind of anniversary.

Graphic 45 Carousel

I worked on this for a long time.  First, let me just say that this is the third project in my JoAnn's wood gazebo series. The first was the Secret Garden Gazebo and the second was the Bohemian Bazar Tiki Hut.
There is one more to come.

The carousel is by far my biggest ever project. It measures a bit over 18 inches high, by 13 inches wide. It breaks down into two main pieces. The carousel itself and the big hat box.

You already know that it all started with the wood gazebo that holds the roof up.  The gazebo sits on a hexagon shaped box that I've altered. The box sits on a 12" wood plate that I got at Hobby Lobby. The 3D horses and the bench are attached to a lazy Susan that is screwed into the wood plate. That whole structure sits on a big round box that I altered to match. I'm not sure what made me think of a Merry-go-round, but there it was twirling in my head and needing to be created! To get a real sense of how it all works, you might want to watch the video imbedded towards the end of this post.

Finding the 3D wood carousel horses took weeks and weeks of looking on the web. I eventually found not one, but to sets of vintage, unpainted Christmas ornaments that fit the scale. I'd looked at so many carousel's by then, that I was able to sit down one day and just paint each horse out. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, given that they are a combination of the designs in my head! Those 3D horses were just the beginning of the process. I needed more animals, so I started looking again.

After many hours, or is that weeks of research, I found an Etsy shop called Nana's Little Nest. Cindy creates laser cut wood pieces and thrives on customized projects. After first buying a few pieces of her horse, I emailed her again about different sizes and different animals.  We collaborated on 3 different sizes including the ones you see here and while she will still make the various carousel/Christmas ornament animals, they will be sold exclusively from my online store.
Painting, papering and decorating the whole structure took quite a while. In the end, the hexagonal box can be opened to save items like the baby's hospital bracelet, lock of hair, etc. I envision the big box to hold a birth announcement, invites, small treasures, as well as cards he or she receives. Here are a few more pictures.

I think you can see from this last picture that I used two of the wood elephants to make the bench.  I'd like to share the video I made, so that you can see how the carousel moves!

Hope you enjoyed this project,
I wish you a wonderfully happy crafty day,

Altered Book Box

I hope that it isn't a sin to have as much fun, enjoyment and even relaxation as I had creating this!  It just came together so easily! I sure hope you will like it!

The pattern paper I used is the Nirvana collection by Marion Smith Designs.  The paper maché book box is from JoAnn's, the sticky back canvas is from Hobby Lobby, and the wood frame on the front of the book is from Michael's.  The metal trinkets are from Prima and were part of Marion Smith's Vintage Trinkets released a few years ago!  I've done some serious hoarding on those and fortunately still have one set of each left even after the ones used in this project! If you want to see all the papers in both the Nirvana and the Mad Tea Party collections, please watch my video:

I have a couple of sets of each collection left in my zibbet store and if you mention my blog post when you purchase, I'll be sure to add a small gift!

Here are a few more pictures of the inside and the outside of my altered book!

I hope you enjoyed! Please feel free to comment and question.  You can also watch my YT video:

Thank you so much for stoping by! Have a very happy week!

Little Yellow Bicycle Wedding/Love Card

I had some of the Little Yellow Bicycle ( LYB) Swoon paper left from a recent project i completed, so I decided to create a card and envelope. I think this one would work well for an engagement  or wedding.Just in case you'd like to recreate it, I've included step by step instructions.  As with most instructions, it's a good idea to read through them once before you start cutting. One really big tip, when using stickles, if at all possible, always stickle first before doing anything else!

Here is the list of what I used:

TOOLS etc:
Cutter
Pinking/Zigzag decorative scissors
Glue dots - small and large
Your favorite adhesive
Foam Squares (3L)
Two 2" white mulberry flowers (Wild Orchid Crafts)
One 1" white mulberry flower (Wild Orchid Crafts)
Silver mist (Lindy's Stamp Gang Glitz Spritz Silver to spritz the flowers)
One LYB Swoon Collection sticker sheet
One silver flower brad (Making Memories)
One 4" string of flat back pearls
One package of pearl swirls, I used a Recolection one from Michaels.

PAPER
Core'dination Foundations 1 sheet 8.5" x 11" Opal Pearl cut one 9"x6 1/4" piece and fold in half

Bazzill: 1 sheet Metalic Silver 8.5" x 11" - cut one 6 1/8: x 4 3/16 inch piece and adhere it to the front of the card.

Little Yellow Bicycle
One Sheet 12" x 12" Swoon Unveiled cut:
   -  one piece at 6" x 4 3/16" to adhere to the cardstock base.
   -  one piece 3 1/8" x 1"  for 2nd layer of the Love 3-D sticker assembly
One Sheet 12" x 12" Swoon Wedding Words cut:
   - the envelope in one of the corners
   - one 4" x 4" square.  I used some old zigzag decorative scissors and cut the very outer edge off.
   - 3 1/2" x 1 1/8" bottom layer of the Love 3-D sticker assembly
   - 2 3/4" x 3/4 for 3rd layer of the Love 3-D sticker assembly
   - 4 1/8" x 1/2" for flat back pearl backing. Adhere the pearls first and then use the pearls as a guide to cut

DOILIES
Use two 4 inch (I got mine, in the white French style from the Owl and Thistle Etsy store. To create the smaller doily, simply pinch the middle of the back of one of the 4" doilies and then create the folds and add adhesive to cover the middle. I used four of the big glue dots. Adhere to the bottom doily and set aside..

Stickles: I used the silver stickles to accent the doillies.  Just choose one of the shapes that rim the outside of the doily. If you can do this first, so that the stickles can dry while you cut and adhere the rest!

FLOWERS
- Spray one of the 2" and the 1" flowers with with the glimmer spray (Lindy's Stamp Gang)
- Let the flowers dry or dry them with your heat gun.
- Put the sprayed 2" flower on top of the flower you didn't spray.
- Place the 1" flower on top
- Put your brad through the whole flower open the feet of the brad
- Put the flower aside.

ASSEMBLY

Assembling the Love 3-D Sticker
-  Pop up the Love sticker on the back of the LYB Words, 2 3/4" x 3/4 piece matching the distances on  the left side. Cut the right side to match the notch in the sticker.
- Apply foam squares to the bottom, of the previous piece and set aside
- Adhere the LYB Unveiled 3 1/8" x 1" to the back side of the Words 3 1/2" x 1 1/8" piece matching the distance on the right side.
- Trim the left side of the Word piece with the pinking/zigzag decorative scissors.
- Adhere the piece you set aside to the two bottom layers and set aside.

Assembling the Flat Back Pearl String
- Use the small glue dots on at least every 4th pearl.
- Adhere the pearls to the back side of the 4 1/8" x 1/2" LYB Word paper strip.
- Trim around the Word piece using the pinking/zigzag decorative scissors. Use the distance from the pearls as your guide.

Assembling the Card
- Adhere the large LYB Unveiled Piece to the card base.
- Adhere the Large Word Piece to the top of the Unveiled piece, making sure that the left, top and right sides are equidistant to the edge.
- Adhere the doilies to the large Word piece.
- Adhere the flower you assembled to the doilly.
- Adhere the strip with the pearls to the bottom of the card about 1/8" from the bottom of the Unveiled main piece.
- Center the 3-D Love sticker you've created between the doily section and the pearl sections lining up the left sides.
- Add a small curl of pearls from the swirl pack.
- Pop up the butterfly sticker and adhere if slightly over the 3D sticker and the mini pearl swirl.

Enjoy!
