Mega Update - Part 1

Oh yes, it has been a while!  So I'll keep it to showing you pictures of anything I've made over the last few months! There is so much to show, that I'm going to break it down into at least two posts!

Ist Project of the Year!

My friend Marie Laurence told me that there is a belief out that if you create something on the first day of the year you have a good year. Who doesn't want a good year? Since I still had my Christmas stuff out, this was an easy project to make quickly on January 1st!

My Most Time Consuming Project Ever

You will see  more of this project created using the Time to Flourish collection from Graphic 45 in a separate post. It's been going on since late December and I'm hoping to finally finish it off this week or more likely early next week,  by mailing off the final kit to my dear friend Marielba.

Ist Layout Class of the Year

I created 3 two page layouts for this class. Apparently I only took pictures of one of the three sets!

Happy Valentines Day - Cards for 3 of my Nieces/nephew

I have a wide range of nieces and nephews and even some great nephews and nieces now. These cards seemed to be perfect for my the 6 to 10 year olds. What I love is that they actually fit in a standard card envelope.

Frozen Themed Box Card

When my friend Marielba's daughter Lianne turned 15 it was a big deal as they are from Puerto Rico. This box card was based of the Frozen theme she picked for her  Quineanera festivities.

Tiny Gift Box

I had something my hubby made that we wanted to give to my dear friend Erica. I made this box to put the gift in. It's probably 4"x4"x1.5". It was fun to work on!

Not Just Scrapbooks FB Group March Challenge

May Card Class

These are the cards we made in my May card class. We made two easel cards, two using the Heartfelt Creations using the Everyday Hero collection and one using the BoBunny Garden Journal collection.

Altered Box and Mini - Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection

I took a wood box from Hobby Lobby and alered it using the G45 Secret Garden collection and a graphic of swallows I bought onE tsy from a shop called graphicals. The legs on the box are also from G45. The lace bow is from an antique shop in Waynesville, OH.  It was beige and I used my Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers to color it. You can see more by watching my YouTube video.

M-C's Upcoming Classes - Catching You Up

A lot has happened in my life since I last posted! I have actually been quite busy creating a whole lot of things.  In this post I'll show you all the class projects I've created. In my next post, I'll share a just for me...or one of my friends project that I put a lot of fun filled hours creating. In fact, I just uploaded a video with the project onto YouTube.

The most fun thing that has happened is Lori the owner of Scraps Etc in Florence KY inviting me to teach at her store.  I love Lori and if you're ever in the store you'll know why.  She is one sweet, hard working new store owner! I also have a few layout classes that I'll be teaching in my home studio. If you know me at all, I love to teach. I spent most of my adult life creating computer courses and teaching adults how to use various Oracle and Peoplesoft software packages. Since leaving the workforce, I've enjoyed sharing my passion for paper crafts. 

Scraps Etc G45 Nutcracker Christmas Card Class

The next class I'm doing and my first at Scraps Etc KY is a five card class using the Graphic 45 Nutcracker Collection. The class is Thursday October 18 at 6pm. The cost is $25.  You can register for this class by calling the store1.

Scraps Etc Echo Park Christmas Card Class

November willl see me back at Scraps Etc KY teaching another five card class.  This time we will be using various Echo Park products. The class is Thursday November 15 at 6pm. The cost is $25.  You can register for this class by calling the store.

Christmas Layout Class - M-C's Studio in Hebron, KY

I only have one spot left for my Christmas Layout class on Friday, November 2nd at 6:30. We will be making six 12x12 pages. The cost is $30. Because my Christmas class is always a very special one to me, there is always a nice surprise for those who attend. If you are interested, please email me. Cupcake Class - January 19, 2013 - M-C's Studio in Hebron, KY

My first cupcake class was a sold out event.  Because there was a lot of interest, I am scheduling a 2nd class for only 4 people. We will make 6 pages. The cost is $30. Please contact me as soon as possible via email to reserve a spot. 

You will notice that the second layout in the Christmas pages and the last two layouts in the Cupcake series can be turned 90 degrees so that they can accomodate pictures that are oriented differently. Each set also has a layout that can accommodate multiple pictures of different sizes!

So Much to Share!

There is so much I need to share since my last posts that it will take me a few posts over a few days! But first I thought I'd share the highlights! Give you a preview of sorts!


My baby is a married man!!!! And as you can see, his bride is the most stunning of women!  I am so proud of them both!  They did such a great job making their ceremony special, beautiful and memorable!  Love them both!

I finished all the projects I had for my son's wedding!  They included:

•  The Gift Bags
• finding the gift bags
• painting the polka dots
• making the tags
• making the photo/video request cards
• getting some of the items for the bags
• attaching the tags and filling the bags

• Putting the Wedding Photo Booth Together. 
• Finding the right software
• selecting the web cam
• finding the right printer
• making it all work together
• props
• creating the instructions
• creating the booth photo book
• finding the page holders

I also prepared for my layout classes

• August Class Layouts (August 24th 6pm)

Created a card or two

And of course, I drove down to Florida for the wedding, met Ashley's parents, hung out with my son Shaun, attended the rehearsal and the wedding where I also set up the photo booth, spent some time with my friend Janie before and after the wedding and drove back home! It has been a busy time! 

June 2012 Layout Class

Hello my friends! Well it's that time again! Although I haven't held my May class yet (I'm glad to say that it's sold out), I have finished designing the 6 layouts for my June class.  Five of the eight kits I currently have available are already reserved. I might be able to get more and hold a second class if there is a demand for it. The layouts were created using Echo Park's Hello Summer.

So here they are, I really hope you like them, they are bright and were a lot of fun to put together!

Busy Bee Buzzes In

What a wonderful blessed week it's been! Enough to warm the heart of a mom, wife and crafter!

First, I went to Indianapolis, Indiana on Monday where I met up with my wonderful son, Shaun who was there for a day to do a video shoot for one of Royall Advertising's clients! If you are looking for a great guy to help you with a web/video project, contact Shaun and tell him you know his mom, LOL!

On the way up to Indianapolis I stopped at Mrs B's Scrapbook Store in Greensburg, Indiana.  It is just a couple of minutes off I-74 and well worth the stop! I was really lucky!  You see, Mrs B's is closed on Sundays and Mondays and you might have noticed that I went up on... Monday.  I was sitting in the parking lot checking my mail before getting back on the road when who drives up but, Mr's B herself! 

Mrs B. was going in to do a little work and opened the store for me!  She is a very nice lady and her store is quite full of wonderful scrappy stuff!  She also has a really nice crop room open to all croppers which boasts a huge TV, I'm talking 52 inch or thereabout!  There is also a kitchen where you can refrigerate your snacks and heat them up when you get hungry!  All in all, I'll be stopping in the next time I drive by!  Thanks Mrs B for letting me in! I wonder if I have any friends that live within say 90 minutes or less from there who would want to meet up and crop the day away sometime? Might make for a fin day!

Shaun and I managed to squeeze quite a bit of quality time in that 24 hour visit, despite his having to work...a lot!! We went to dinner at Brugge Brasserie a Belgian restaurant that we found using the Urban Spoon app on my iPhone.  We had clams, Carbonade Flamade/Belgian Beef Stew, and a crepe Suzette! After walking around a little we went back to the hotel. 

I have to thank the staff at the Courtyard by Marriot. When I checked in and asked if it was possible for us to have adjoining rooms, they were kind enough to upgrade me to a King Suite! It made the whole hotel part of spending time with Shaun so comfortable with the nice living room between our two rooms. Shaun gave me a tour of my new MacBook Pro laptop, also known as Shaun's OLD MacBook Pro laptop, which is just awesome!  The keyboard might not work, but since I'm hooking the laptop up to a monitor and external keyboard in my office, who cares? I'd call that a nice early birthday present!  Thanks Shaun,  I just know that I am going to enjoy using it. 

After his Tuesday morning video shoot, we had a very few hours to share before his flight, so we decided to take a drive into downtown Indianapolis!  The first thing we saw was the Colts' Stadium!  My gosh that place also known as Lucas Oil Stadium looks humongous from the outside!

Both of us also thought that Indianapolis' downtown had some amazing buildings and the main circle in the middle of the downtown with the Soldiers' and  Sailors' monument is truly impressive!  So impressive that Shaun insisted that we drive around it at least three times, haha! Seriously, we were very glad we took the time to go and drive around the downtown even if it was a very quick car tour! Unfortunately, it is very unlikely that Shaun will ever be in Indianapolis again! After a very relaxed lunch at the airport, it was time for us to say goodbye and for me to drive home. With any luck, Shaun will go to some other destination where I can meet up with him! It was fast but fun!

As for last night, I gave my March Birthday layout class and I had a great time!  What a wonderful group of ladies! I certainly hope that they enjoyed themselves! I was so pleased that Charlene could come over early to spend time scrapping with me and stay to enjoy the class. I owe Charlene big time as she has been a godsend, helping me to cut everything and put the class kits together! I am considering offering the kits online for future layout classes but I'm not sure if there would be an interest!  The six page layouts are between $20 and $30 for 6 pages and are precut for the class.  Kits would come with instructions. I have one of the March kits available right now. So please give me a shout if you want it! Stay tuned for pictures of the April Travel class which I hope to have up on Sunday night or Monday morning!

Speaking of friends, I had a great time at Tina's Stamp Camp this morning!  While 9am is early for a class, the company was certainly worth getting up at 7am on a Saturday!  The cards we made were absolutely lovely and the techniques were a lot of fun!  So thank you Tina for a wonderful time!

February LO Club Pages Revealed

It's time to show the three 2 page layouts (LO) that I've come up with for my February LO class! I hope that my students will enjoy making them.  I know that these are LOs that I'll be able to use in my album!

Each was made using Echo Park paper and rather than have one consistent team like I had last month, all six pages were weather themed, I thought it would be more fun to do three different themes which given that my students are all teachers, they will be able to use in their albums! Fingers crossed that they will be pleased enough to allow me to come up with something in March!

Getting Crafty - Scrapbook Buddies rise again

Many of you reading this are/were part of my Scrapbook Buddies in Florida and some I hope are new members of the group here in the tri-state area (Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio). As people say, life goes on and it is time for me to get my life rolling again. I have been scrapbooking over the last few months, but I haven't gotten my Buddies together!

I intend to do just that starting with a meetup at my house on January 6th. I hope that I can get quite a few new friends to come out here and enjoy!

Meanwhile, I did make a couple of LO's about Christmas 2007 and 2008, but I can't show them to you as they are part of my Christmas presents. I must admit that I am a year late giving the 2007 layout, but I'm sure they will be glad to add it to the Christmas albums I gave them a few years back!

As for my heritage book, I unfortunately did not manage to get it completed in time to send to be printed in time for them to get to people for Christmas, so I've given myself a break on that until the new year! I did get more pictures from my other cousin Irene who lives just outside Quebec City, thanks Irene, which will allow me to make sure that both she and her sister, who I grew up with are included. I discovered, as I was putting everything in final form, that I was still missing information without which it made no sense to go to press. For example, the picture above is of my great-grandparents 25th wedding anniversary. I got this picture from my cousin in Belgium, Marie-Jeanne. I've identified just about everyone, my grandmother is the one playing the violin in the middle of the picture, but the two mandolin players on either end of the picture. I know that one is M-J's grandmother Rosalie, but which one (I'm guessing the one in the lighter dress on the right) but who is the other lady? I also seem to be missing the name of one of my grandmother's nine siblings. So is that the mystery lady? I have learned other interesting things woking on this book and even things that were right in front of me for years, but that only clicked after the 20th time looking at them! That is one of the things that makes working on heritage books totally facinating! There are layers and layers of things you get to learn about your family. Suddenly stories that you were told click with something else that you uncover. It is amazing some of the things I've learned about that are different from what I'd always believed! There may even be some discoveries that you wonder if you should share or not!
