Painting Plastic

I really wanted to lighten up my scrap room a little and the ugly black clip-it-ups and the grey multi drawer organizer and the white  and black ribbon boxes just were not making me feel happy anymore!  And surely you know tha there is nothing more important in a creative space than to feel very happy, though it is likely that for some unhappiness also works!  But unhappiness inspires me to write poetry and songs, not make pretty scrapbook pages, and minis!  So I decided to paint all these plastic things! I'm sure many of you have done that, but for those of you who haven't it can really be a great thing and you can repaint the same items over and over again, simply by using a spray plastic primer.  Of course you can also use Krylon Plastic Paint.  The Clip-it-Ups, multi-drawer and single drawer green chest and the aqua colored ribbon boxes were all primed first. The pink, yellow and green ribbon boxes were not primed. I used Krylon plastic paint on those!

Green Clip It Up

Aqua Clip-it-Up

Pink Clip-it-Up

Green multi drawer painted plastic organizer

Pink and green and blue and yellow and aqua, Oh My!

Looks Good even up close!

Even those black office stackable drawers can be painted!
Hope you enjoyed this post!

Project Share - 12 x 12 Layout

I was in our local scrapbook store the other day looking at the new papers, and touching them, LOL!  Yes, it is just one of those things, I have to see things in real life to get excited about it!  Pictures are wonderful, but they really aren't a substitute, if you know what I mean!  I'd seen the two new Graphic 45 paper lines, Le Cirque and Curtain Call on line but wasn't sure what I'd do with it. When I saw it in the store, I immediately knew I needed to make a heritage layout for my album.  So here it is:

In addition to the Graphic 45 Le Cirque paper, I used a crocheted doily, some Prima lace, Prima bling. a hand made rosette flower, 3 Recollection flowers and a big black Petaloo flower. I used a skeleton leaf under the rosette, and two black medallions (one has a pearl center) that I got at Michael's.

I am going to re-scan the original picture with my new Epson Artisan 810 printer in the hopes that I can get a scanned copy that is as detailed as the original.  I must say that this scan of my mom and dad's picture is not nearly as good as the original and that is likely due to the very old scanner I used the first time.

Thank you so much for stoping by and visiting with me!

I haven't Disappeared, Honest!

I know, I can't seem to keep up with anything or anyone the way I'd like to these days! Have the days gotten shorter? Either they did or my interests have just gotten broader, but at any rate I always feel that there is so much I want to do, look at and read about that often, at the end of the day, I have nothing tangible to show for the day other than the house being clean and the beds and laundry being done!

A couple of weeks ago hubby dragged me along for a nice, if very short, trip to Canada. We went to London Ontario for three days, soI really didn't get to see anyone I knew!  We flew from the Cincinnati airport (CVG), which is actually in Hebron, Kentucky to London (Ontario) via Toronto. As you can see from the very enhanced and brightened picture of Toronto I took from the airplane, we were not flying in on a bright sunny day! Now there was something that I found a little weird!

We flew Air Canada, and believe it or not, all but one leg of the trip was in a prop plane? Yes you heard me right, a plane with propellers, not jet engines! I can't remember the last time I did that, in fact I can't remember doing that at all, but given that I've been flying for over 45 years, yes I am that old though I was pretty young when I first flew to Paris, the odds are pretty good that I must have hopped on a prop plane at some point!

I was fortunate enough to meet and travel with two of Hubby's students and they were seriously the nicest young women. Imagine little me, and I mean that literally as I am just under 5 ft 4 walking with three people who range in height from 5 ft 11 to 6 ft 2!  Yup, I travelled with giants, LOL!

Someone who is not a giant and that we spotted while waiting for our plane in Toronto was Don Cherry and Ron MacLean of Hockey Night in Canada fame! We were reminded of his flamboyant jackets when in the airport in London where he had a jacket he had donated for a charitable cause. I took pictures of Andrea and Brandis with the jacket so they could show their friends and family.

I did visit a Michaels and two local scrapbook stores while in London and I truly feel sorry for my Canadian scrapbook friends! At this time the Canadian dollar is at par or worth even a touch more than the US dollar, yet an item that costs $1.99 here, was  $4.49 there!  Seriously?  I guess that despite the fact that the item in question was made in China, it must have travelled to the US and then to Canada.

My biggest disappointment was not finding anything at all in any of the stores that was made in Canada for the Canadian market.  There was one line of stamps in one of the local scrapbook stores, but that was it!  I hope that when I travel in the next year to Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec city, that I will be lucky enough to find something different than the big names we are all familiar with, Prima, My Minds Eye, K & Co etc. It is always finding the things I haven't seen first hand that enchants me when I visit a local scrapbook store!

Next I hope to post my "pages" for the March layout class I'm teaching, so please come back soon!

Thanks for dropping by,
M-C

Busy Bee Update

I know that it's been a while since I've updated, so here goes!  Life has been a bit of a challenge lately with a sinus infection, followed by a trip to Florida followed by a pinched nerve in my neck and then in my lower back!  Thank goodness for the chiropractor who has been treating me back to relatively painless mobility!

I have been crafting, you know that since I did post the 6 pages I put together for my February class.  What else have I made this year?

Well I made 12 ATC's to fill one of the 7 Gypsy trays. It is a swap I'm doing with my friend, Janie in Florida.  She got the cards and opened them this week which is one reason that I didn't post them here, I didn't want here to see them ahead of time!

I also created a 6"x61/4" prayer page for a fellow crafter on You Tube who is battling cancer. Krafty Katsy had a bone marrow transplant and if you are the praying sort, I would ask that you add Katsy to your prayers!  She is a sweet lady and what she is going through is so difficult! We were asked to do shabby chic pages and include a picture of ourself so that she might see what each of us looks like. I will be adding my favorite prayer to the back side of the page!

I also created a mini album using the Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime collection. Here are a few pages from the book, you cans ee the whole thing in the video on YouTube! I have no idea what I'll be doing with this mini ( think it is about 6"x9", so if you have any ideas, please do let me know!

Thanks for reading!!!!

February LO Club Pages Revealed

It's time to show the three 2 page layouts (LO) that I've come up with for my February LO class! I hope that my students will enjoy making them.  I know that these are LOs that I'll be able to use in my album!

Each was made using Echo Park paper and rather than have one consistent team like I had last month, all six pages were weather themed, I thought it would be more fun to do three different themes which given that my students are all teachers, they will be able to use in their albums! Fingers crossed that they will be pleased enough to allow me to come up with something in March!

Thanks for looking and do stay tuned to see what my next giveaway is!!!! Did I happen to tell you guys that I love giveaways???

Christmas Card and Last Call for the Christmas Giveaway!

I made this card for the aunt of a friend of mine who loves cardinals. I used Distress Inks and a glossy cardinal sticker as well as the Winter Doves stapm from Stacey Stamps. I cleaned off the ink from the doves before actually stamping the image!

Also just a reminder that I'll be drawing the winner for my giveaway today (Dec 15th) at 9pm eastern!  I hope to get the goodies out before the weekend.  I'd say tomorrow, but as luck would have it we are expecting another storm, so it might be a couple of days before I can get to the post office! Good luck to one and all.  Remember, it was not enough to subscribe/follow my blog/YT channel, you also had to comment!

Good luck to one and all!!!
